Duchess of Cornwall and the "Nelson" brooch Archived Message

While looking for something completely unrelated -- which seems usually to be the case -- I stumbled upon this entry in a 1951 edition of the Illustrated London News on the theft of a Lord Nelson relic from the National Maritime Museum.

I can't find anything in my own notes related to a discussion about this when the Duchess first wore the brooch, but is it known how or when this near-replica of the ornament made its way into the Royal Family and to the Duchess as a brooch? It looks relatively modern compared to the original.
