The 'problem' with Monaco, glittering-wise, is that they (and Liechtenstein) do not have the same frequency of State Visits and official visits as other monarchies.
This two-day official visit to the Netherlands, with a formal diner at a grand royal residence and even with a separate "First Ladies-program" for the Princess, was one of these rare opportunities for Charlène to appear a par with other royal ladies in a formal event. The Dutch are not spoiled with Charlène's grace: she did not join the meeting of the Heirs at the Queen's hunting lodge, she did not attend the three beautiful days around the Investiture and now she drops out again... For me, suckler to ladies in their finery, it felt extra sour because now for the first time we would have seen Charlène glittering, apart from those dreadful celebbie-events and fashion shows.
The sad thing is that these official visits are rare for the monegasques. The Prince will now come alone. He will have a program, almost alike a normal protocol for State Visits (meeting the PM, meeting Parliament, meeting businessmen, having a formal banquet, visiting a High Tech Campus, signing trade agreements between the two countries, etc.). This means that after this Visit, it will probably be a looooooong wait again before Charlène will have another opportunity again to show what the monegasques have in their jewelry cassettes. (Or the other monarchies must be willing to receive Albert for Official Visits as well).
