Thank you so much Arthur, Your latest photo has shown me a lot. First, I now think that, what I thought of as white gems as flower leaves, I now realise are mother of pearl elements. I think there are other, different coloured mother of peal elements with some very unusual colouring in my opinion - which form parts of flowers, especially to the right hand side. What I thought were green amethysts, I now think are aquamarines, but this just highlights how important lighting is for jewellery buffs who can only judge things from photos. (I could still be wrong, I admit) I am now sure that a couple of the pink/red stones are rubies, as by zooming in, I believe, I can see the characteristic 'silk' of Burmese rubies. I am not sure about the other 'red' stones. Of course, not all rubies have the 'silk' of Burmese rubies. I will be thinking about this in days to come. I hope that others will find additional information. Arthur, I know nothing about this French jeweller, but obviously he was valued by the Russian Royal family. And his work is superb. Do you know anything about him and other jewels he might have made for royal families?
