We have been led to believe by some writers that the Queen Mother, born of aristocracy, and Scottish at that, was not in the slightest overawed by British royalty. More than once I have felt that her wearing of some important pieces of jewellery was a personal statement. Two heirlooms of the crown were simply trinkets!
