Two questions, Arthur: 1) What exactly was there between two pearl necklaces on Queen Alexandra's neck in the 1st picture? It's hard to see clear details of that thing around her neck between these two pearl necklaces. 2) Is the bracelet on Queen Alexandra's left wrist in the 1st picture the one and same as that immediately below her Kokoshnik Tiara in the 4th picture? --Previous Message-- : The origins or the whereabouts of this : impressive necklace are unfortunately : unknown (at least to me). : : It is is indeed a very versatile piece of : jewellery. : : The large lozenge-shaped motif at the front : of the necklace is detachable, and can be : worn as brooch: : : : : Another unidentified oblong-shaped diamond : motif is suspended, on the picture below, : from the large central lozenge-shaped motif : of the necklace. Three pear-shaped diamond : drops are suspended from the oblong motif, I : guess they are the Lahore diamond (now the : pendant of Queen Victoria's Coronation : riviere, frequently worn by Queen Elizabeth : II) and Queen Victoria's Coronation : earrings: : : : : The two large ornate motifs hanging on both : sides were bequeathed to Queen Maud of : Norway (daughter of Queen Alexandra), and : are now worn as earrings by Queen Sonja. I : do not know, though, if these earrings are : the same as Queen Victoria's Turkish : earrings: : : : : On the following picture, the large : lozenge-shaped motif is worn as a brooch : (pinned on Queen Alexandra's sash), whereas : the oblong-shaped diamond motif and the : "Norwegian" earrings are suspended : from Queen Alexandra's wedding-gift pearl : necklace. And I suspect the pearl drops : hanging from the oblong-shaped motif to be : the two large pear-shaped drops from Queen : Alexandra's Dagmar Necklace and one of the : drops of her pearl and diamond wedding : brooch! Quite easy to get lost, isn't it? : : : : :
