As proven in the recent thread about the British State visit to France in 1938, the French Republic is (was?) able to display, on big occasions such as the State visit of foreign monarchs, a truly monarchical sense of pomp and pageantry.
Here are pictures of Danish State visits to France:
29 November, 1950: King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid at Paris Opera House, with President Vincent Auriol and Mme Michèle Auriol:
7 April, 1965: reception at the Quai d'Orsay (French Foreign ministry, and residence of the royal couple during their State visit), followed by a performance of Bizet's opera "Carmen" at Paris Opera House:
