Maybe the stones could be interchangeable at best? Or they wore of a deep colour that could be mystaken to non expert eyes with a dark blue saphires? Because in Úrsula site we can read an extremely detailed and acurate discription of the design of this tiara as an amethyst tiara, as reported in the newspaper The Scotsman 21 june 1946 in connection with the auction of Pss Maud's jewels. --Previous Message-- : I also think that this tiara is a sapphire : one, but I think that we might be in the : minority in thinking this Ashdean.
