I have just read an item in the Australian edition for March 2016 of Harpers Baazaar about a bracelet featuring a Romanov Ceylon sapphire of 197.80 carats said to have been worn by the Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovana.
It is said that the stone was used as a decoration on a dress by the Empress in the late 19th century. It was sold in 1928 by Cartier in New York to the US singer, Mrs McCormick, who sold it in 1971. It was sold again by Sotheby's in Geneva in 1982, and was acquired by Cartier in 2014.
When I tried to find Cartier ads for this jewel, all their website pages said the page/s were no longer available, so obviously the new owner has asked for discretion.
