    Thank you Arthur for reminding us of this fabulous emeralds.
    I do not know their origin but at the time I assumed they were most likely a Qatar gift, as Queen Sofia usually wears the gifts that she has been presented by her visiting guests.
    As far as I remember this was the only time she has worn these emeralds, but I can be wrong.

    Queen Sofia has another necklace with emerald beads, an emerald and pearl necklace. Like many of her jewelry, also this necklace has not been seen in many years. It was worn mainly in the 1970's and early 1980's. It was worn at a very special ocasion, the renunciation of the King's father, Don Juan the Count of Barcelona.

    The emerald bracelet worn on the Qatary visit could be this one, from Queen Frederika. Queen Sofia does own the similar aquamarine one. She has several multigem (rubi, saphire, aquamarine, emerald...) bracelets in this same style.
