    Queen Mary's Russian sapphire brooch Archived Message

    According to Leslie Field, this beautiful brooch of timeless elegance was a wedding present to Queen Mary from her husband's aunt, Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia, in 1893. It was inherited by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.







    Queen Elizabeth II took the opportunity of this visit to the Honourable Artillery Company to unveil a bronze bust of herself - quite a success, IMHO. Queen Alexandra's Peeresses Kokoshnik Tiara and the Hyderabad diamond necklace are very well rendered:
