Wasn't the coronation necklace 2 of the collets necklaces plus the pearls? Each of her 3 children received one of her strings of diamonds... we know that one came from George V and no doubt one came from Marinas mother who may have given a string of diamonds to each of her 3 daughters on their marriage. Where the 3rd strand came from can only be speculated as she was wearing them long before Queen Mary's death in 1953
--Previous Message-- : Dear Beth, : : Princess Marina had 4 diamond collet : necklaces! : : Yes, you have raised a very interesting : question ! : : I don"t understand why at that time : Queen Elizabeth the Queen mother had no : diamond collet necklace, her first one was : offered with the scroll diamond tiara in : December 1936. : : She also seems to have worn only 3 : differents diamond collet necklaces during : her life + the coronation necklace (worn for : the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II). : : Franck : : --Previous Message-- : That is a very interesting point Glenn. : : I am intrigued about the origin of the 3 : diamond necklaces. As Glenn says they are : large. : : The only necklace which I have seen any : information about is the one given to : Princess Marina as a wedding gift by George : V. : : Does anyone have any information about the : other 2? I think that Princess Marina was : wearing them from the 1930s. : : One of the things which intrigues me is that : in the same period QEQM did not have (or was : not wearing) a diamond necklace with stones : as large as those in the necklace of : Princess Marina - nor did QEQM have several : such necklaces. : : : --Previous Message-- : OMG look at the sizes of Princess Marina's 3 : diamond collet necklaces : : : : : :
