I also doubt that we will see this rather grand tiara on the Princess now. She will probably save that for a later date when she is older. Previous Message Her Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra celebrated her 18th birthday in January, but the official celebrations were postponed due to covid-19, and will take place 16 and 17 June 2022. On Thursday 16 June the Norwegian Government is hosting a celebratory dinner at Deichman in Oslo. This dinner is for Norwegian guests from around the country, in addition to the Norwegian royal family. It is probably informal dress code. On 17 June the King and Queen of Norway host a gala dinner at the Royal Palace, and there will be royal guests from Europe attending. Thus far, I have seen confirmed attendance from the Dutch court, King, Queen and Princess of Orange will attend. If this is a tiara event (which I guess it will be), this will be the first time for both Princess Ingrid and Princess Catharina-Amalia in tiaras.

Somehow i don't think that we will see Queen Sonja as probably she would have worn it till now. I agree, but Queen Maud’s grand diamond tiara can also be worn in a smaller version without the 21 diamond terminals according to some news reports in 1896. Queen Maud's diamond tiara

I would love to see Queen Maud's diamond tiara to get some additions. I believe it would look amazing if the clusters on top could be replaced by amethysts set in diamonds. In that way the Queen could use it with the rest of the amethyst set as a full parure. That would give the Norwegian Queen various sets in different stones: Emerald set inherited from Empress Amelie Queen Desiree's diamond tiara or Queen Alexandra's diamond coronet with the diamond earrings, necklaces etc Queen Maud's pearl necklace with other pearl jewels Queen Maud's diamond tiara in the amethyst setting with queen Sonja's amethyst set and in future they will also add Princess Astrid's turquoise set to it. Plenty of variation and colours outside of the fairly predictable Sapphire and Ruby sets other countries have. The Queen will probably opt for one of her three main pieces: emerald set, Queen Maud's pearl tiara or Queen Desiree's diamond tiara. The crown princess generally wears her wedding tiara but she might opt for the amethyst tiara/necklace for this event. Princess Ingrid Alexandra is most likely going to wear the tiara she was given. So if the only tiara she was given for her 18th birthday is the Boucheron pearl and diamond tiara of Princess Ingeborg than that will be her tiara. Has she been given another piece by her grandparents or parents than she will probably wear that tiara. Crown princess Victoria of Sweden has a fairly large choice. I find it difficult to predict what she'll choose. Personally i would love to see her in the Connaught tiara or the Aquamarine bandeau. Queen Maxima and the Princess of Orange also have a big selection of jewels to choose from. Maxima has worn the Sapphire set twice in Oslo so i hope she'll opt for something new. My personal favourite would be Queen Emma's diamond tiara with the 5 stars on top of it. That would be a new setting for her and restoring the tiara to it's original design. Amalia could opt for the Laurel tiara (her grandmother's first tiara) or the aquamarine tiara of Queen Juliana. I think she would look good in the ears of wheat tiara as well but that is not a generally loved piece. I think it would be amazing to see her in a new setting. I would love to see the 5 diamond sunbursts that used to be on the Van Kempen setting of the House diamonds tiara in a new tiara. Think of Cecile of Greece's diamond tiara. If those 5 sunbursts would be set in a larger tiara within diamonds it would make for an impressive piece that she could wear for decades to come. I know Felipe probably won't attend it would be nice if either his wife or mother would attend. Sofia looks great in the diamond and pearl shell tiara and for Letizia could wear any of the larger tiara's of the Spanish monarchy. Crown Princess Mary will probably opt for one of her smaller tiara's. This is not a grand state visit or a major Danish event so i think she'll leave the rubies at home. You mean the Lorentzen family (children of Princess Ragnhild), which are quite wealthy and have gifted the tiara. Their cousins the Ferners (children of Princess Astrid) are not quite as wealthy. Previous Message No, Countess Ruth's major pieces of jewelry went to her children - and as you all know her garnet tiara went on auction. The difference between the Ferner family and Countess Ruth and Count Flemming is that the Ferner family are reportedly billionaires and Countess Ruth and Count Flemming were not wealthy at all. So for the Ferner children their mother's tiara does not have to be auctioned - and the tiara is not an asset they rely on to be able to get bread and butter - which is the case of the Rosenborg family. Their family jewels are something they can sell off to survive. That is why the Ferner children could "give" away their mother's tiara to the main line.

Im looking forward to what the young three future queens will be wearing. Ingrid Alexandra seems to at least own one tiara herself and might have access to others. Amalia has a large selection to choose from and likes tiara's. So that is promising. Elisabeth may not have her own tiara. Her mother only has three we know about (Belgian Provinces tiara of Queen Astrid, her own Laurel tiara and the Wolfers necklace/tiara of Queen Fabiola). Im wondering if Elisabeth may have been the recipient of the Spanish Wedding gift tiara or maybe another piece (the Stockholm tiara of Queen Astrid, a new piece made of the diamond daisies of Fabiola). I would certainly love it if Queen Paola either loaned or gifted Queen Elisabeth's bandeau to the Duchess of Brabant. The Bulgarian Royals still have quite a few pieces so it's interesting to see if they are allowed to wear them and if so what pieces they'll select. We know Olympia of Greece was given her own diamond fringe tiara by her maternal grandparents. So it's probably not that difficult to guess what she'll be wearing. Martha Louise only owns one tiara so for her daughters to wear a tiara she would need to either loan a few pieces from her mother or the King and Queen should have given their granddaughters tiara's. That does not seem to be the tradition in the Norwegian family so im not expecting any of her daughters to wear a tiara. Im a bit baffled that no one from the UK is coming. After the Belgian and Luxembourg families the closest connections are to the UK and Denmark. You'd expect Anne or Edward to attend. Though i would have loved it if William+Catherine or Beatrice and Edo were among the guest list. Almost forgot about Stephanie of Luxemburg. She has a number of pieces to choose from. I just hope it's not the citrine set. It does not suit her colouring very well in my opinion. One of the diamond tiara's suits her much better. Though i'd love to see how the cabochon emerald tiara of Grand Duchess Charlotte suits her. Previous Message The three heirs of Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands will probably all be wearing tiaras for the first time. Princesses Mafalda and Olimpia of Bulgaria might be wearing tiaras, they have not been wearing those previously. But I don't known what jewels the family still owns - they have borrowed jewellery for previous events (like the Denmark wedding in 2004). Maud Behn might be wearing a tiara Also - Princess Marie Olympia has worn tiara once in Denmark, will be nice to see her again.

Hans are you referring to Queen Astrid's necklace/tiara set with diamonds and emeralds? That piece went to Josephine-Charlotte who used the emeralds for the peacock necklace/tiara. So unfortunately that piece no longer exists and what remains isn't in the Belgian family either. Elisabeth's tiara will be a surprise. I think the most likely option is the Wolfers tiara of Fabiola. Her mother has been wearing it so we know it's available. Im hoping we'll see the Spanish wedding gift tiara on Mathilde and the art deco bandeau on Elisabeth but that is probably wishful thinking on my part. Maybe Philippe and Mathilde decided to use some of their money to buy a new piece for their oldest daughter. They'll need to buy new pieces for Eleonore and future wives of Gabriel and Emanuel anyway so why not add to the collection by buying one for Elisabeth as well? It's a shame the Belgian Royals did not buy the Belgian pieces that were put up for auction by the Italian princesses. I am very excited to finally see the official guest list and probably like many of you I am really looking forward to this glittering Royal gathering in Oslo. Hopefully we will indeed see at least three tiara wearer debuts there. It has to be said though that I am also a bit disappointed in the fact that there is nobody from the UK. An appearance of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would have been great, but sad to say it was almost expected that they would not attend. This "distancing" from the continental European reigning Royal Families is not a good look. I mean, I would have been more than satisfied with even the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester for instance. Another disappointment (for me) is that the King of Spain will not be accompanied by his wife. But I will let those things go and just focus on those who have decided to attend and to celebrate the future Queen of Norway, even though somewhat belatedly due to the Covid virus. It would be great if the Duchess of Brabant surprises us with a completely new tiara. She is after all the future Queen of the Belgians. But as she might still spend many years as the heir it would not be odd if she had her own "signature piece" without having to ask her mother for a loan each time she will attend white-tie events (which she will hopefully be doing more from now on with State Visits etc). I think it is highly unlikely that Princess Märtha Louise's daughter will attend wearing a tiara. So I suspect we will see the Princess wearing her 18th birthday tiara herself, which would leave the Amethyst set available for somebody else to use. What a splendid idea! From what I recall the tiara was actually created with the idea of the diamonds being replaced with other gems. If we are to believe the stories it has also already been worn with turquoises for instance. So why not some beautiful amethysts? I am keeping my fingers crossed in the hope that we will soon again see this splendid tiara and that we will get a really good view of it (as even though grand as it is it somehow managed to get a bit lost in the late Princess Ragnhild's hair).
