I like the stones, but all the extra gold around the setting is weird. Less is more.

not a great design and quite gaudy with the gold. I don't get the choice for an emerald either. ML never wears emeralds so this ring is going to clash with her other jewels.

Not even her birth stone. Oh well, at least it's not true green like most emeralds. At first I thought it was an aquamarine.

And I agree with the adjective "gaudy."

It reminds me of the superstition we were told while growing up that if emeralds are used in engagement rings, it's bad luck. The thing is, you don't see many emerald engagement rings. This one is much too gaudy, to the point of looking more like costume jewelry than authentic.

I think you are all being to hard here.
…emeralds being bad luck? Well! Maybe that is not the case in Norway.
And looking like costume jewel? Perhaps! But so many new jewels does that it is hard to see the difference. Take fx jewels from the Brunei family.
I admit that the ring is not on my top ten list! But it seems like Shaman Durek has put a lot of thoughts in the design and I like that. I mean anyone can go to Gerrards and buy a ring in a design that is seen so many times before.

I hadn't heard that idea about emeralds. It's my birthstone, so I wouldn't have minded an emerald engagement ring. But they *are* very soft and virtually impossible to be flawless, so maybe that's why they're not as popular for engagement rings.
