I really wonder if it’s even up to the new sovereign and consort, or if courtiers make the decisions for them. Previous Message I am very curious as to if Queen Camilla will wear any major piece from QEII, but perhaps the royal ladies are thinking of paying tribute to Her by wearing some of her jewels. I do hope so. Not sure Queen Camilla would be wearing any tiara related to the late Queen yet, so I'm guessing the Honeycomb or the Durbar. Perhaps a necklace from QEII? Princess of Wales- Lotus flower tiara. Any of the Queens earrings and necklace. Princess Royal - Pss Alice meander tiara Countess of Wessex - her wedding tiara in the new version. It's a safe bet to assume that most of Queen Elizabeth's grand jewels went to her heir. She's seen what her grandmother's good intentions for her younger children ended up doing with those jewels. Besides a number of them have gone from sovereign to sovereign. It always is up to the monarch to decide who can wear what if items have not been specifically set aside for the Queen (regnant or consort). Of course Camilla will have to tread carefully so soon of after HM's death. But some pieces have been worn by previous queens making them acceptable for her to wear. Im hoping for Queen Alexandra's kokoshnik tiara. I'd love it if Queen Mary's sapphire tiara was loaned or given to Catherine to go with her diamond and sapphire jewels. It would be nice if the Countess of Wessex could be granted access to some of the jewels. She has been a senior working royal for many years now and does not have the jewels to match her status. I am sure she will remain modest in her choices. The now even further removed from the throne 'cousins' like the Gloucesters and Kents have grander pieces. Silly really. That said, I think we won't be seeing any tiara surprises tonight. Camilla has access to the late QM jewels and those are fit for any Queen. Same goes for the PoW. She already has been wearing more tiaras and important pieces than her late mother in law when she was PoW. The PR will never go for any of the major pieces. The Oriental Circlet is a safe choice for Queen Camilla. Worn a few times by Queen Elizabeth II but not wholly identified with her, but rather with The Queen Mother who favored it and Queen Victoria who was the first wearer. She could wear it with her Alice Keppel synthetic ruby necklace/tiara worn as a necklace. Previous Message It would be nice if the Countess of Wessex could be granted access to some of the jewels. The Queen has worn the pretty brooch before at the King George Diamond Day at Ascot Racecourse in July 2022, just a few days after her 75th birthday. It appears to have a cabochon stone which may be a rock crystal or a moonstone. This can be seen in photos from that date, whereas today's make it look more like a pearl at first glance. {PS - can someone please remind me how to post photos here? The earrings may have been something remodeled, as Camilla does not have pierced ears. I have a feeling that her necklace is shorter now than when HMQEII wore it, so maybe the earrings have been made from the pieces removed in the shortening. Possibly, we will see some other earrings being modified into clips, too. Previous Message Lovely with a jeweled banquet again. The Princess Royal and her husband are on an official visit to the Falkland Islands. Previous Message The earrings are clearly from a diferent set of saphires, as they are darker. The saphires on the George VI set were all matching colour and lighter. Probably they came from one of the many Midlle East jewelry gifts QC has received over the years. The diamond top of the earrings has a distinctive Midlle Eastern touch to it in my view. I had no idea the Queen did not have hers ears pierced! A pity if for that reason she would not wear some of the beautiful earrings available to her in her new position. I have to say I actually liked how the saphire tiara looked on her, altough this is not my favourite tiara at all. The Princess of Wales looked absolutely magnificent and perfect, as always. The Countess of Wessex's tiara is not one of my favourites but I loved the detail of the necklace and earrings, previously belonging to her late Majesty. And as to the Duchess of Gloucester, Pss Marie Louise's indian tiara is one of my absolute favourite tiaras, its absolutely stunning.
