As in years past, on the late, lamented Glittering Royal Events board, let's have a Glittering Royal Jewels Ball for New Year's Day!

Bring your best bling on your favourite royal ladies to bring cheer and color to the dark winter days.

As our beloved patron saint of Royal Jewels Queen Mary would no doubt have said, and perfectly embodied, "More is more!"

I'll start with my panels of head ornaments worn by Queen Mary herself. Sorry that these have still not been updated with corrections.

THE GRAND DUCHESS CYRIL VLADIMIR OF RUSSIA (formerly Princess Victoria of Edinburgh)

QUEEN VICTORIA EUGENIE OF SPAIN (formerly Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg)

QUEEN MARIE OF ROMANIA (formerly Princess Marie of Edinburgh)

TSARINA ALEXANDRA OF RUSSIA (formerly Princess Alix of Hesse & by Rhine)

All were directly descended from Britain's Queen Victoria. Louise was Victoria's great-granddaughter while the other ladies were her granddaughters.
