Do we know if Maxima has a French order? They tend to be in red so the Mellerio ruby set could be a practical choice. I'd love to see the full set with the entire stomacher once again. I would also love to see Queen Emma's diamond tiara with the 5 stars on top. If the Princess of Orange attends there are several options i'd love to see her in: the diamond bandeau, the bandeau a la Grecque and the aquamarine set. I think we can expect Beatrix to attend. It would be great to see her in the diamond fringe tiara Mabel wore for her wedding. It's one of the few pieces we've never seen on the former Queen and i think it might look good on her. On PPE there are photo's of Constantijn and Laurentien being at the Royal Palace this afternoon. Im not sure if they attended the lunch or were arriving for the banquet tonight. So we might see Laurentien in a tiara again. I think Beatrix will also attend, she lives about 45 minutes away. Im not sure Margriet and Pieter will attend. I do hope the Princess of Orange will attend, it would be fitting if the Princess of an area now part of France to attend the visit of the French president. And a new red dress to go with the red colour of the order WA is wearing. I like the used o the brooch at the belt also. I like it when she uses smaller tiara's for presidential visits. The antique pearl tiara is the grandest of the smaller tiara's and it's one of my favourite pieces from the Dutch collection. I would have liked to see a piece we have never seen on her, but if it was to be a repeat this one is probably the best option. Im not a fan of the hairstyle though. Not seen any images of Laurentien. And i do like that Macron did some of his speech in Dutch. Not something i'd expected of a French president. A lovely tiara for Maxima, indeed. But for God's sake, isn't there any protocol specialist who could tell President Macron that you don't wear a morning suit jacket in lieu of a white-tie jacket??? Macron already made the same mistake in Denmark and Belgium, it's ridiculous and embarrassing!

President Macron fashion statement or faux-pas?

The outfit of president Macron was quite baffling. He wore the jacket of a morning suit (daywear) with the black waistcoat of a smoking/tuxedo (informal evening wear) and the white bow tie and shirt of white tie (gala). I've not seen the waist of the pants so i cannot judge to what outfit they belong. By the looks of it the French president doesn't have a tailcoat because as Arthur pointed out earlier he wore the morning suit jacket at the State Banquets in Copenhagen and Brussels as well (though granted, not with a black waistcoat). Of course, in the old days the morning suit would be used by presidents for formal morning occasions like for instance a welcoming ceremony during a State Visit. But with that formality now (sadly) gone one would think that a tailcoat would in fact be used more by a Head of State as it is still the evening attire reserved for grand evening events, like a State Banquet (though of course that tradition is also dwindling). He wore the jacket of a morning suit (daywear) with the black waistcoat of a smoking/tuxedo (informal evening wear) and the white bow tie and shirt of white tie (gala). I've not seen the waist of the pants so i cannot judge to what outfit they belong. I did not realise he wore the same coat in Brussels and Copenhagen. It must be a conscious decision rather than a mistake by a member of staff. I do find it odd that a French president does not own a frac/white tie. It's not like he cannot afford it. It does look a bit silly for a man in his 40's and the leader of a large and quite prosperous European country not to adhere to normal dress code for such events. Previous Message By the looks of it the French president doesn't have a tailcoat because as Arthur pointed out earlier he wore the morning suit jacket at the State Banquets in Copenhagen and Brussels as well (though granted, not with a black waistcoat). Of course, in the old days the morning suit would be used by presidents for formal morning occasions like for instance a welcoming ceremony during a State Visit. But with that formality now (sadly) gone one would think that a tailcoat would in fact be used more by a Head of State as it is still the evening attire reserved for grand evening events, like a State Banquet (though of course that tradition is also dwindling).
