Queen of Malaysia’s Aquamarine Tiara

A few years ago, after I published an article on the Tiara of Lady Saltoun, Her Majesty The Queen of Malaysia reached out and told me about her identical Aquamarine and Diamond Tiara, and then went into the vault, where she sent images of the Tiara and its case, which was stamped Carrington & Co by appointment to King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, dating the piece to between 1901 and 1910.

Today, after the article on the Aquamarine Tiara was published, Her Majesty told me that she has seen comments that this Tiara is a fake or a copy of the Saltoun Tiara that she had made at Garrard and thus she wanted me to clarify that the Tiara was acquired by Sultanah Nora of Johor, the consort of the Queen’s grandfather, Sultan Ismail of Johor, at Hennell in London quite a few years ago, before being bought by Queen Azizah herself from her ‘Auntie Nora’. She said ‘I love the Tiara, even if its a copy … but its not a fake for sure’

It is a very beautiful tiara - but in my opinion it would be even prettier without the bottom swirly diamond pattern

As for the word "fake" - then people are not always precise as to what they actually refer to as being fake.

For instance with this beautiful tiara. Some might say its fake meaning that it is not the Saltoun tiara - but actually not expressing anything about weather or not they think it contains diamonds, gold and silver - or not!

And some use the word fake to express what they think it is made of... e.g. not real diamonds, silver and gold...

Obviously this beautiful tiara is set with real diamonds and aquamarines in silver and gold

Thank you very much for posting about this (now) Pahang tiara. Very interesting information and I am so glad that the Queen decided to share this information with you (and by association; the rest of this community).

Here is me crossing my fingers (and toes!) that there might be more information on the Malaysian jewels coming our way in the future.

Having this kind of information, and from such immacculate source too, is thrilling. There are such wonderful collection of magnificent jewels in all the Malaysian states and it is such a shame that they are seemingly somewhat "overlooked" by us. One reason for that is of course that very little information can be found about them which can cause people to find them not worth mentioning. But they are indeed a wonderful sight to behold and many of these jewels are still rather frequently in use at various Royal events throughout the year. For instance the Royal address to the Parliament:
