It was with great sadness that I learnt of the death of Erik Schoonhoven early today.
Erik's contributions to the history of jewels has been enormous, ranging from Queen Victoria's Albert sapphire & the Fife tiara to various items in the Dutch Royal Collection. Most of his work on Oscar Massin hasn't been published yet.
What a sad, sad, loss. We used to be Facebook friends. He was quite a scholar and a very nice person too.

Very sad news. His contributions and immense knowledge will be missed by all those interested in royal jewelry. My condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP.
What terrible news. May he rest in peace. My thoughts go out to his loved ones. I am certain he will be greatly missed by many. He did great research on various (Dutch) royal jewels and was always generous in sharing his knowledge, here and on other media platforms. I hope someone can and will continue the projects he was working on.
