Love the sea of tiaras. The Diamond Diadem doesn’t seem to rest well on HM head though. Kudos for her that she opted NOT to wear her coronation piece. The King wearing the ISC in parliament… sigh… such a missed opportunity to enter a new era. The robes and crown look so outdated. I actually thought that perhaps the Robe of State would be draped over the throne, and the ISC resting on a cushion in an effort to make the ceremony more streamlined and modern. After all, he invited onlookers to his coronation in daywear. However I think the whole thing looked suitably grand, and I liked seeing the George IV on The Queen’s head.

Now I a have question, is the Robe of State from Queen Camilla new? The Robe of State she wore at the coronation was longer and round at the end and the golden embroderie was not so strong golden .

One thing I noticed is the king and queens Parliamentary robes looked quite dark, almost like the purple robes they wore at the conclusion on their coronation. Queen Elizabeth II’s parliamentary robe was definitely crimson, no mistake.

Charles and Camilla wore the parliamentary robes they wore entering Westminster Abbey for their coronation. The robes of Charles were made for his grandfather George VI, those of Camilla are the robes of the late queen Elizabeth II.

One can really see the difference in colour. The one of the King is much dark and the gold has darekd very much where in the one of the Queen they are mch more in the original colour (and it is only 15 years newer). Perhaps they should have restored the one of Queen Elizabeth (the Queenmother) for Camilla then the diference in colour would not be so obvious.
