Queen Fabiola of Belgium's Chaumet parure for sale at Geneva

A Chaumet parure formerly in the collection of Queen Fabiola of the Belgians is for sale at Faerber-Collection. The parure was a gift from King Hassan of Morocco and has been displayed at GemGenève 2023. Very interesting! I do not recall having seen the set before. So it would be great with pictures. Question: who are the sellers? I have never seen the parure before…. But ‘stylist’ as she was…. Perhaps was it worn with other jewels so we could never really see it! I think it are the Spanish nephews who are selling it. I can’t say I’ve seen a photo of the late Queen Fabiola wearing the red stones and thinking they looked realistic. It’s a shame if they’re paste, how nice if this tiara were still in the main line and if Queen Mathilde had rubies to wear, along with the ruby bracelet. Previous Message

This ducal coronet was a wedding gift from the wife of Franco. It has interchangable emeralds, rubies and aquamarines. Previous Message Perhaps fake rubies…. But I would love to see the crown worn by Queen Mathilde.

The story goes that the nuns who had received the tiara sold the emeralds and rubies and replaced them with paste stones before selling the piece to Franco so it could be presented to Fabiola. That would only make the aquamarines real. As the tiara has not been seen for so long in a monarchy with very few jewels it's unlikely it still is with a member of the Belgian Royal Family.
