Tiaras at the King’s Dinner for Nobel Laureates

Queen Silvia wore the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure, Crown Princess Victoria was in the Connaught Diamond Tiara and a mystery Brooch, Princess Sofia was wearing her Wedding Tiara, the Swedish Diamond Floral Earrings, a Ruby Brooch and Bracelet,, and Princess Christina was in the Six-Button Tiara at tonight’s King’s Dinner for the 2023 Nobel Laureates at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

The wonderful @Jakreg76 has spotted Crown Princess Victoria’s mystery Brooch from tonight’s King’s Dinner for the 2023 Nobel Laureates at the Royal Palace of Stockholm being worn by her grandmother, Princess Sibylla, with the Cameo Parure at the Wedding Gala of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Princess Ingrid of Sweden in 1935.

How exciting it is to discover ‘new’ jewellery of the SRF!!! Makes one wonder just how much more are there in the vault. Back on the mystery brooch, perhaps it’s got a French origin? As I remember reading somewhere that Empress Josephine left all her opal jewels to Eugène while all the sapphires went to Hortense in her will. Has anyone noted the brown or yellow hue that some of the diamonds have? I was just thinking if this is due to the photo quality or if they are in fact coloured? Has anyone else noted the same? Old versus modern cut diamonds

Common for jewellery set with old diamonds. They tend to be less uniform in colour and cut. The bright white sparkles we see these days have a cold but radiant sprakle to them. Old diamonds tend to have a warmer hue (colour range) and are less flashy. Previous Message Has anyone noted the brown or yellow hue that some of the diamonds have? Yes like for example the antique ruby and diamond tiara/necklace that Crown Princess Mary of Denmark bought some years ago. Those diamonds look positively dirty in photos, but probably look warm and sparkly by candlelight. Previous Message Common for jewellery set with old diamonds. But couldn’t it also be a question of the quality of diamonds? Fx I think I have read somewhere that some of the old diamonds in the Crown jewels of Denmark are of lesser quality which can be been by a brownish hue. Yes indeed. And not only diamonds. Many of these old diamonds would not fetch even half the price of modern day flawless and colourless diamonds but their historic value makes them priceless.
