My recollection is that King Charles wears a wedding ring with his signet ring. IIRC the signet ring had the Prince of Wales feathers engraved in it so giving it to William (at some point) makes sense. There is a famous photograph from 1981 (I believe taken by Lord Snowdon) of Charles's and Diana's hands clasped with fingers intertwined, clearly showing her engagement ring and his Prince of Wales signet ring side by side. Thank you--yes, that is the photograph I was thinking of, of the rings of Diana and Charles. Snowdon's idea to photograph them that way. It appears from the photo of the infant Prince William with his parents that Charles did not wear a wedding ring during his first marriage. That is what I remember too.
