In this image, does anyone know what necklace Princess Astrid is wearing? The drop looks like an unfamiliar coloured cabochon.

In the picture you described Queen Sonja is wearing two diamond rivieres. The necklace princess Astrid is wearing is one piece but of diamonds with a centre of the same stone as the pendant. That might be amethyst but could also be sapphires or another gemstone. Previous Message Go to the Court jeweller page and scroll down to the photo of Queen Sonja wearing the malthese tiara without the crosses. She is wearing a purple flower dress. I think Princess Astrid is wearing the exact same necklace with one of the amethyst earrings as a pendant.

We have talked about this necklace before on the board If you look at the elements of the tiara... you see the photo of Princess Astrid is retouched... just think it is really bad retouching of the necklace...

It is a golden necklace with an orange coloured stone. There is a colour photo. A photo from a different angle. Princess Astrid wore the necklace from the emerald parure with a diamond and emerald pendant, according to a magazine article in 1960. Astrid has worn a similar, but shorter emerald pendant with Duchess Pauline’s gold parure. Previous Message In this image, does anyone know what necklace Princess Astrid is wearing? could it be a necklace belonging to the tiara she wears in the second picture? The gold set that once belonged to the Duchess of Nassau, princess Pauline of Wurttemberg. I have to say i find mixing gold and fully diamond pieces odd but we've seen it done by others. Queen Margrethe II often mixes her gold tiara with diamond pieces. Thank you... from this angle you can see there is a colored stone... but I still do not think it looks like the emerald necklace... in the photo Andrew posted it does not look like the colored stones goes all the way to the back of the necklace...
