For the Empress i would like to see her deubt the imperial Chrysanthemum tiara. Together witht the 3row collet diamond necklace which was worn by Empress Nagako but hasn't been seen since decades. As for the Queen i guess it will be an all diamond tiara. Would like to see her in Queen Alexandra's kokoshnik perhaps with the greville festoon necklace in it's three row Version. As for the Duchess of Edinburgh i hope she will wear either toiday or tomorrow (the Edinbughs are scheduled for the Guildhall Banquet) in her redesigned Wedding tiara as we have no really good pics of it since the redesign Previous Message As Japan is known for (cultured) pearls I hope Queen Camilla opts for the Vladimir tiara with pearls. Perhaps with the diamond and pearl jubilee necklace. Or perhaps even better some diamond tiara + diamond jewels we have not seen in ages. Stefan

I think we'll only see diamonds and pearls. The Japanese Chrysanthemum tiara would be great to see on Masako. For Camilla im hoping for Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik or the Vladimir tiara but i fear we may see another outing of the Greville Diamond tiara. It would be nice if the Duchess of Edinburgh was given a real diamond tiara. Maybe Meghan's wedding tiara? With the colours of the Japanese flag being red and white will we again see a Ruby tiara adorning Her Majesty's head? I actually wouldn't mind that as I really liked the previous outing of Queen Elizabeth II's Ruby tiara. I suspect we will see the Duchess of Edinburgh in her Aquamarine tiara. It is unusual for the monarch to loan the same piece to two different members of the family. The Lotus flower tiara still has the dark brown velvet matching the Princess of Wales hair. I wonder if Catherine lent it to Aunt Sophie, as the lotus has a lot of symbolic meaning in Japanese culture. Or perhaps times are finally changing.... Letting senior royals choose from the impressive number of tiaras that are not worn by the current Queen consort make every sense. Sophie had rather poor hand in choosing or receiving tiaras. Starting with that horrible contraption they threw together for her wedding. I'd like to suggest someone puts those elements back in the box in which they were found and let them rest in the back of the vault for eternity. The Aquamarine tiara (the one with that middle element set on a fork) didn't convince. Weird looking thing. She has one signature piece and thats her Aquamarine necklace tiara. Love the colour of that huge central stone, The tiara is elegant but does not really impress. Its wonderful to see her with the Lotus tiara. Suits her better than Catherine. Honestly I hope this is the start of something good here: better use of almost forgotten tiaras. Seeing the Princess of Wales in the Strathmore Rose late last year was our first sign that things are changing, or at least there is some initiative to dig into the vaults for some inspiration. Agree that leaving Sophie with just her pieced together wedding tiara for decades was unjust, but seeing glimpse of a redesigned wedding tiara may actually make that thing wearable going forward. Incredible and so disappointing: both Emperor Naruhito and Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, attend tonight the traditional Guildhall banquet without their wives! Empress Masako and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, are absent from tonight's dinner. Was any explanation given for their absence? (The lady seated next to the Emperor is Elizabeth Mainelli, wife of the Lord-Mayor of London Michael Mainelli)

The passing of the Lotus Tiara makes me think there is almost an unofficial Jewel Foundation. I hope I can phrase this correctly. I wonder if the disbursement of the late Queen's jewels went something like this: 1. Jewels left to specific individuals 2. Jewels left to HM The King for the Queen's exclusive use (not the Crown) 3. Jewels left to HM The King for custodianship and allowed to be in a pool of borrowed jewels. (Like the the Lover's Knot Tiara, left to HM QEII, but given as a lifetime loan to Diana.) Well your guess is as good as anyone's I suppose but I think its safe to say that we may see more pieces that are not reserved for Queen Camilla on other royal ladies, which is a big improvement. I wonder if it also has something to do with the changes at court. Some courtiers were known to be rather inflexible and traditionalist and may have blocked requests or offering of loans through the years.... Creating a pool of jewels that can be worn by multiple royal individuals seems like a perfectly sensible thing to do. I am also wondering what will happen with the grand pieces owned by the cousins.Their children will hardly have use for them... The Empress remains in a relative fragile state. She still does and probably will always limit her engagements. Not everyone is cut out for these extemely demanding royal roles. I can see the Gloucester children selling the biggest pieces (or giving them to the nation) to cover inheritance tax and keeping smaller pieces in the family. Sell the Indian-style tiara, keep the Iveagh, for example. The sovereign-to-sovereign arrangement is the most likely way the private jewels were handed down. They would have had to give a "bequest" some number of years before the giver's death --seven?--to avoid inheritance tax. I think the Gloucester jewels and those still with the Kents (mainly with prince Michael of Kent) should be considered lost for the Royal House. I get the desire of some to see them donated to the nation but i don't see that happening. The late Queen learned from her grandmother's choices and never gave big pieces away. In decades to come the large and impressive collection of jewels owned or in trust by Elizabeth II will become the royal collection. It seems Charles III is handling the collection different from his mother. The fact that we might see several pieces worn by various ladies of the Royal Family resembles the arrangements in Sweden, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Spain and Norway seem to be heading in the same way but with smaller collections. In many countries you can't offset the value 100%. F.I. if the value of the items is 500k it only covers 400k in death duties owed. That's why its so important to put these items in a Trust. Its possible the Gloucesters already placed the large items in a trust to avoid having to pay death duties at some point. On the other hand it might represent the only part of an inheritable fortune that is left.... then a sale is most likely. Some of these pieces could fetch high prices. There are plenty of super rich in India and the Middle East for instance who would love to own pieces formerly owned by the BRF. Previous Message Donated to the nation means in lieu of death duties. If you owe, say, 50,000 in inheritance tax, you can donate something to a museum (the nation) instead of handing over the cash. It's a pretty handy alternative, if you're rich in inherited belongings with no cash to manage them or pay the bill.
