I suspect hats, pearls, and brooches. Previous Message Will princess Martha Louise wear a tiara tomorrow and if so will it be her own tiara or will Queen Sonja loan her another piece? The dress code for the wedding is black tie for men and evening dresses for the ladies so i doubt hats are going to be part of it. Previous Message I suspect hats, pearls, and brooches. It's a beautiful tiara and as it's her own piece i think also very appropriate for the event. She is the only one wearing a tiara. The ladies of the Norwegian Royal family are in traditional costumes as is prince Sverre Magnus. I have not seen pics of Constantijn and Laurentien today, but the Swedish royals are in evening dresses without tiaras. Though some of the guests are wearing some unusual outfits. I love seeing Queen Sonja, princesses Mette-Marit, Ingrid Alexandra and Astrid in their traditional dress. I also very much appreciate that prince Sverre Magnus and his girlfriend both were in traditional dress too. It looks both festive and very Norwegian. In the Netherlands we only have regional dress but not national traditional dress. I like the way princess Astrid uses her grandmother's aigrettes. I would however love to put both versions together to create a lovely small diamond and ruby tiara with earrings and a pendant that her descendants could make their family wedding tiara. Previous Message Trond says that you don't wear tiaras with bunad. However, the headband does seem to have a little crown on top. Either way, she looks adorable, as usual. If she had worn an evening gown, I bet she would have worn the antenna tiara. It would have been very appropriate for this occasion.

What a lovely picture of the princess! Is the jewel part of her hairband something special for the royal family only? It looks like there are three stones in the crown could they be citrine or even amber? Previous Message ...

I doubt very much it is a costume piece. More likely made of gilded silver, like a lot of the jewellery worn with the "bunad" (the traditional attire with regional variations). This type of jewellery is called "søljer". It looks like the three "pendants" in the crown are just gilded silver buttons pressed to get a concave shape. The difference in appearance is probably down to a trick of the light depending on how it hits and reflects in the concave shapes. I have tried to look for photos of similar headpieces, but it doesn't seem to very normal. There are actually crowns though that can be used by brides if they marry in "bunad", but I haven't seen any diadem in my google search like the one worn by the Princess. Still, she is a Princess and if anyone should be able to wear a diadem (or tiara) like that it would be our Princess Astrid!
