Dutch royal replicas on display at Soestdijk Palace

Some pretty decent replicas of the Dutch Royal Jewels on display at the former Royal Place Soestdijk: Sapphire Tiara, House Diamond Tiara, Ornate Pearl Tiara, Large Bow Devant de Corsage, Diamond Watch and Diamond and Pearl brooch..
There is something about it on Youtube as well. Some of the tiaras I don't recognize. Could those be some of the ones Rene Brus spoke about, as being empty skeletons kept in the safe? Is it known who made these creations on show?

Re: Dutch royal replicas on display at Soestdijk Palace
I would not count on it being a revelation of Orange-Nassau jewels. The copies of the known tiara's are not very good. The copies of the brooches are much better. As for the other pieces they are most likely fantasy pieces.
The couple that now owns Soestdijk Palace and their chief exhibit coordinator are not on close terms with the Dutch Royal House and i think Margarita does not have much access either but she has her own jewels to sell so it's not surprising to see her here. She has two daughters and herself she has to take care of because any money she got from her grandmother was spent during her first marriage. Her second husband was a decent guy working for the Dutch National Bank but i doubt he's very wealthy. So it's the princess or more likely her mother Princess Irene who may have funded much of the family's lifestyle with a beautiful old farm and horses close to The Hague.

Re: Dutch royal replicas on display at Soestdijk Palace
After Margarita mentioned in the Blauw Bloed interview with her that the replicas of the jewels were made by Peter Brusse, I thought better to check that strange info and I found online that yes, it was Rene Brus after all who was the maker, bless him.

Re: Dutch royal replicas on display at Soestdijk Palace
I agree the corsage and brooch are better copies than the tiaras and I also thought it more likely that Brus was the actual creator.
Frankly this exhibition is a mess, not unlike the state of the palace itself and the new concept envisaged by the new owners.
Whatever remains in the back of the vaults at Noordeinde remains a mystery but I think we have seen most of it now.

I agree that most of the important jewels have been seen in public in recent years. The only pieces not shown for some time are the 5 diamond sunbursts that were part of the top of the Van Kempen en Begeer version of the House diamond tiara.
I hope those five sunbursts are still in the collection and maybe we'll see them on one of the princesses in years to come.
With the princess of Orange being a self-declared fan of jewels im hoping she'll add to the collection. It would be nice if some new pieces with different stones would enter the collection. Amethysts, pink topaz, peridot and a turquoise tiara would all be great additions.

The only replicas i really like are the diamond bow brooch, the mellerio ruby tiara and I must say the Sapphire tiara is also very nice.
But the house diamond tiara is out of proportions I don't like it. Also the pearl tiara is a very very bad replica.
I am a little disappointing that our jewelry collection never go on display in the palaces. Only beacause the DRF see this jewels as private.

I think a lot can be accomplished by acquiring large precious stones and setting them in existing tiaras. The base of the drop pearl tiara, Queen Emma's diamond tiara, the base of the pearl button tiara, the Emerald Tiara,... Even the Mellerio Ruby Tiara can be fitted with different stones. More variety with the same number of tiaras. The drop pearl tiara especially is very suitable for his purpose and could be topped with large drop shaped amethysts, topaz, peridots, garnets, turquoises etc. Not too expensive and incredible instant versatility. A good example is Princess Sophia's tiara in Sweden. Go Steltman Jewellers!

I think the main reason for not exhibiting them is that the RF do not want to show off too much wealth but also security and insurance would be serious considerations. I remember a jewel theft from a diamond exhibit in the Museon years ago. It was mentioned the theft included a piece or several pieces belonging to the RF. It was never divulged which pieces though.

As far as I remember only one piece from the royal collection was ever exhibited: the large brooch that was presented to Queen Emma as a National Gift in 1879 at the occasion of her marriage to King Willem III. This was in the exhibition "Yes, I do. Royal Marriages 1791-2002" in the New Church in Amsterdam prior to the marriage of Willem-Alexander and Maxima. Queen Anna Pavlovna's golden cipher bracelets have been exhibited several times.

In the Dutch press (see below) it was in fact mentioned at the time that the RF loaned several pieces (11) for this exhibition and one was confirmed stolen.
" source Volkskrant

It seemed security measures were not tight enough so the insurance company refused to compensate. The theft included pieces owned by the former Portuguese RF. Quite a scandal... I wonder which jewel of the Dutch RF was stolen.
