Queen Máxima is wearing the Württemberg Ornate Pearl Tiara and the Princess of Orange is wearing the Mellerio Ruby Tiara at the State Banquet for the Sultan of Oman at the Royal Palace of Amsterdam tonight!
I think Maxima may have purposely chosen to hold back a bit in order to let her daughter shine. The Queen looks beautiful and the jewels are amazing (very happy to see her in this tiara) but at the same time it's the Princess of Orange who catches your eye. Maxima has done this before, she is very well aware of when to shine herself and when to leave the first place to someone else. She did so with her mother-in-law when she was Queen, with her husband at certain events and it feels like she's doing it again. Proud mama looking good herself but enjoying her daughter stealing the limelight.

The Princess of Orange looks so nice in the rubies, and I think she has really outgrown her teenage shyness!

Maxima looks absolutely gorgeous and opulent in this combination of dress and pearls, pearls, pearls. Oman was/is famous for Pearl Fishing! I suspect that might have influenced her choice(s) here. The last time she wore this dress she opted for a very basic version of the House diamond Tiara, which was not a succes IMHO. I would have loved to see the pearl tiara with all the upright pearls or with the rarely seen version with the pear pearls between the five elements. I absolutely adore this tiara so I am a bit biast.
As for Amalia. Nice combo of jewels and dress. Glamorous but not too flashy. Not sure if I actually like the Mellerio Ruby tiara on her (yet). Perhaps its the hairdo. But she looked proud to be wearing it, at last... Good for her.
