A series of new portraits of Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg have been released in connection with an interview she did with ELLE Luxembourg ahead of the Abdication of Grand Duke Henri later this year. Most notably, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore the Luxembourg Vine Leaves Tiara (the first time she hasn’t worn the Belgian Scroll Tiara since 2018) along with Queen Astrid’s Emerald Earrings.

One of the few tiaras that actually suit the Grand Duchess. Most tiaras are either overpowering or underwhelming on her. Stephanie seems to carry most tiaras much better. That massive Empire Tiara was another disaster for MT, she was just too short for it. Never looked quite right and takes the right lady to pull it off. Perhaps better as a museum piece for everyone to enjoy, because it gives drag beauty pageant winner vibes. Curious to see if the new Grand Duchess will adopt it for occasions. With the right hairstyle it worked as we could see when she wore it once in Belgium. As for the chamuet emerald tiara Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte managed it to work for her Previous Message That massive Empire Tiara was another disaster for MT, she was just too short for it. Maybe it can be made to work better. The Braganza tiara in Sweden and the House diamond tiara in the Netherlands both are made to work in smaller versions, that could be an option for the Luxembourg piece. Stephanie has longer hair than her mother-in-law so i think it might suit her better because she has more options to adapt her hairstyle to make it work. Previous Message Fully agree. The emerald tiara looked great on Charlotte and Josephine-Charlotte so maybe Stephanie has to try out a few different hairstyles and positions for it to work on her. We will see but I suspect the sheer height and weight of that thing makes it tough to balance . The Now Heditary Grand Duchess is coming from the highest Belgian Nobility. She will be a Grand Duchess for a long time and will wear all the Belgian and Grand ducal jewels on a perfect way. Noble birth is no guarantee for taste, elegance, self-knowledge nor for suitability for any role. She's lovely and I am sure most jewels will look stunning on her. Doesn’t Queen Mathilda count as coming from a noble background? I believe she was part of the low nobility, but also descended from a Polish princely House via her maternal grandmother. From the reigning houses I think Liechtenstein currently has the highest ranking noble consort with Duchess Sophie in Bavaria from the Wittelsbach family as the wife of the current Regent. The family has jewels. UK? That's stretching it a bit I think. Camilla comes from the upper classes but not the (higher) nobility. Her father( Major Shand) descended from Scottish gentry (lairds) but I doubt they were considered nobility. Her mother was the daughter of a quite recent created (3rd) baron. The Cubitt family gave rise to politicians, architects and builders but were not landed gentry nor noble. And of course she descended from Alice Keppel, the royal mistress from a Scottish noble family... well perhaps she earned her pedigree ;-) The Cubitt family owned a tiara. Mathilde's father has a recent comital title. Mathilde was part of the untitled nobility in Belgium. Her father was the younger son of a baron. Her mother has better papers: she's a Polish countess and her mother was a Polish princess. No grand jewels remained I think. At least we never saw them. Stephanie is a countess De Lannoy and member of one of the ancient noble houses of Flanders/Hainaut. De Lannoys apparently still own a small and delicate tiara. The Braganza tiara in Sweden and the House diamond tiara in the Netherlands both are made to work in smaller versions, that could be an option for the Luxembourg piece.
