I saw a discussion online regarding the origin of Queen Margrethe II’s engagement ring and I tried to find an answer. But without succes.
So, the question is whether her engagement ring was made by van Cleefe and Arpels or not?
Does anyone have articels from the time of the engagement mentioning v.C&A?
Or just anything that links it to v.C&A?

I have seen that in print somewhere... just cannot remember where... will try to look in some books...
And I have also seen somewhere that the stone(s) (one or more?) in the ring should be old family stones from "Count" Henri's family... but cannot remember the source of that either

Indeed , this was discussed since years and years and no answer. The Monpezat were not rich, Henrik was not. From Where are coming the 2 diamonds of 6 carats, from his grand father when he was in Indochina , or stones from the Danish vault. Never a clear explination was given. Van Cleef and Arpels who made de golden Ring said it is the most expensive engagement ring in Europe.

But do we know for sure that v.C & A just did the golden setting, Maria Olivia? If I understand you correct the stone might have come from the family - either his or hers.
But if so, would it not be a bit strange that you would ask a high profiled company as v.C & A to merely do a setting?

Even if he was never a count, or rich, it was an old good family nonetheless. The stones could have been inherited from a grandparent?

Several news reports from the engagement press conference mention that the ring is from Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris and consists of two large and two small diamonds set in gold. The provenance of the stones is not mentioned in the articles I have seen.

Thanks, Stig I think then, we can conclude that it was made by v.C&A no matter the origins of the stones
