For the banquet for the State Visit of the Sultan of Oman the queen of Spain is wearing Queen Maria Christina's Pearl Loop tiara with her hair down. It looks really good on her.
Too bad the Princess of Asturias is not yet attending incoming State Visits. Im looking forward to seeing her and in time Infanta Sofia attending as neither Queen Sofia nor Infanta Elena ever attend incoming State Banquets.
The queen looks good with the tiara and curly hair!

Oh dear friends, sorry to differ. Its a definitive no for me, the beautiful and imposing russian pearl tiara from Queen Maria Cristina needs to be worn with the hair up (as most tiaras do actually). This way it looks like a beauty pageant tiara being worn.
Its the same dress and jewels as in the Netherlands (except for the big pearl brooch) visit and the result is not the best this time for Queen Letizia.
Also it looks unbalanced, altough the dress is beautiful my sugestion to upgrade this look would be wearing a nice brooch at the top center (its screaming for a brooch or a small necklace) above the order, and at least one nice bracelet. I'm quite disapointed this time.
On the other hand is it known of any jewelry gifts to Queen Letizia in this visit by the Sultan of Oman? The Omani rulers are often very generous in such gifts to royal ladies (Queen Sofia, QEII, Diana Pss of Wales...) Thanks in advance.
My initial reaction when I saw the first photos was that of excitement: "the Queen is wearing a tiara!" But after having seen a couple of more photos I have to say I agree with you Cristina. The overall look was not a very good one in my opinion. As we saw during the State Visit in the Netherlands the Pearl Loop tiara with that dress can be very elegant, but I think that if not a necklace or a brooch then at least a bracelet (or even two) would have improved it.

It reminded me of a portrait of Queen Isabel I with long hair and a coronet/crown at the back of her head so i like that reference.
