December will see a number of Tiara events. The Dutch Royal couple will pay a state visit to Suriname next week and the German president to the UK. A week later the Swedish Royals attend the Noble awards ceremony and the dinners afterwards.
Any predictions for those events?
For the state visit to Suriname I'd love to see Maxima with the Ruby Peacock parure but I think it will be the diamond bandeau if she wears a tiara at all.
The german President will arrive in Spain tomorrow for a State Visit so a tiara Event more.

Hopefully Queen Letizia will bring out the pearl sea shell tiara. She hasn't worn it a lot and it's such a beautiful piece. The real surprise would be if the Princess of Asturias was to attend but I doubt we see her for an incoming state visit for some time.

It would indeed be very nice to see Queen Letizia in Infanta Isabel's Shell tiara again. But as this is a State Visit from a republic I would not count on the Queen actually wearing a tiara at all. In all fairness it has to be said that she did wear one for the State Visit made by the President of Italy. So maybe, just maybe, we will be lucky to see a tiara tonight.

I missed that one.

If Maxima wears a tiara. Big If. It will be a very modest piece. I suspect she will not wear a tiara. Perhaps a brooch or necklace. Surinam is in an economically and politically fragile state, an ex colony, a republic and only in recent months, after the death of ex-president Bouterse, have diplomatic relations been normalised. Hence this greatly anticipated visit. Walking in with millions worth of diamonds in an impoverished country once looted by the motherland would not be good optics this day and age...

Considering red, green and yellow are the main colours of the Surinam flag i think she'll use one of those colours. We've seen her quite a lot in the emerald set and the Mellerio rubies so the Peacock parure would be a nice option.
Im not sure HM thinks much about the economic situation of the country she visits when selecting her jewels. She is aware of the fact that she'll be the first Queen visiting an independent Suriname and that half of that nation's population is living in the Netherlands. So she'll need to appear as The Queen and not as the UN representative for inclusive finance of the Secretary General. I would be surprised if she did not wear a tiara.

The president of Finland is also coming to the Netherlands in december. So we will see at least 2 tiara's from Queen Maxima and the princess of Orange.

They are cramping in State Visits this december. Finland's visit will certainly be a tiara event with at least two Royal ladies, potentially more. Beatrix, Laurentien or Margriet could attend as well. Im not expecting Alexia or Ariane to attend an incoming state visit any time soon.

Wasn't there a similar remark when the president of a rather poor country was making a state visit to the Netherlands? She wore some massive tiara, and people were very positive about it, saying how much she wanted to wear her best to show how highly regarded the guests were.

I think the main distinction is that when it comes to a State Visit the size or wealth of a visiting or hosting nation Is unimportant. All deserve the respect and time.
I could see why certain circumstances would result in adapted behavior because seethingg went wrong

Don't want to spoil it for anyone but it depends on the dress code. Also In France Maxima did not wear a tiara because the dress code was business suits. I suspect the dinner in Suriname will be the same. But if the dress code is Black Tie we might see something shiny in her hair. Juliana visited as Queen in 1978 and she was indeed bejewelled but the circumstances were totally different then and the dresscode was evening dress.

State Banquet

There is a state banquet on the first night of the visit. Even in Greece where the men wore suits she opted for an evening dress and the tiara of the Mellerio Ruby set so im expecting she'll wear a tiara. South Americans do appreciate glitter a lot more than most Dutch.

Bandeau…

Maxima opted for a ‘modest’ tiara, the diamond bandeau created from Queen Emma s national wedding gift necklace from 1879.
