Queen Camilla is wearing the (second) Greville emerald necklace tonight for the German State banquet at Windsor Castle - the one previously worn by Queen Elizabeth II for a diplomatic reception. The emerald pear-shaped drops have been removed.

Great to see this beautiful circlet worn again! (though it looks leaning a bit sideways on Catherine's head...). It is a bit disappointing that the Prince and Princess of Wales did not receive the grand cross of the German Federal order of Merit - its red sash would have made a nice match with the rubies. The other members of the Royal Family: The Oriental Circlet is really worn a bit akwardly, it is clearly leaning to the right side of the Princess of Wales' head.... The issue for me is that the tiara was tilted and not straight. Kind of hard for me to understand how that went unnoticed considering the number of stylist and jewelers involved in preparing the British royal family for such events. Previous Message Although it is wonderful to see the Oriental Circlet again, it does look too large and rather precariously perched on the Princess of Wales' head. Like the Delhi Durbar tiara, it was created for much large hairdos than today's. Both could probably benefit from being made a bit smaller. Or would that be sacrilegious?

I find it a little strange that Queen Camilla chose to wear this necklace without the drops - when she could have chosen to wear the big Greville necklace (the one the Queen Mother wore) without the pendant. Could it be that the circlet slipped on her smooth hair. Even though this hairstyle is very popular these days, it doesn't lend itself to securing a tiara. An updo or shorter hair works better. I think you are right. And Camilla seems not to take such practicalities into account when doling out tiaras to the other royal ladies. When they were on a long term loan basis, the recipient had the chance to adapt the base of the frame with material to match their hair and create a good fit. Finally another tiara on the princess of Wales but it looks a little bit out of balance and to big for her with her hair down. Next time with hair up en maybe a litle more placed on the had like QEII. Previous Message Well, I don't think it looks good on her one little bit.

I think the Duchess of Edinburgh is meticulously dressed. However, I’m not convinced her aquamarine tiara goes well with her demi-parure with darker stones. I would have thought she would have worn her wedding tiara with all diamonds. Maybe she just needs access to more diamond tiaras. Previous Message I had been looking forward to a new outing of this tiara for such a long time. Especially since I saw the late Queen Elizabeth II wear it - once. It looked splendid on her I thought and since then wished that she would wear it again. So, when I saw it on the Princess of Wales this morning I had mixed feelings. Like most of the comments so far here I did not think she wore it as well as I had expected. It looked rather tilted. Now, whether that is because it is too big for her or because the hairdresser was not on form last night, I don't know. I suspect that what this tiara needs is a proper updo, or at least shorter hair (like the late Queen and the Queen Mother). So even though I must give the Princess of Wales kudos for bringing out this treasure again, I must admit that I also felt a bit underwhelmed. And those wrists are crying out for a sparkling bracelet (or two)! The Queen looked splendid I thought. The Emerald necklace was a very nice surprise. So glad that at least someone is wearing those fabulous necklaces these days (yes, looking at you young Royals now...) Duchess of Gloucester can (almost) never go wrong in my book. It was wonderful to see the Indian tiara again. Not sure what to think of the Duchess of Edinburgh this time... again, it's the hair because the jewels are great.

Yes the mix of gemstones is a bit odd to look at. It would be nice if she had a good diamond tiara or had been loaned the sapphire tiara of Queen Mary for the event. Is Sophie becoming colourblind? I know that this aquamarine is a very difficult colour to match but this combo is just ridiculous. Give that woman a bigger choice of tiaras for crying out loud. She is the DoE! Anne underwhelmed. Again. Her outfit and jewels the second evening at the Guildhall were so much better. Catherine what was she thinking? That combo of dress and tiara is just awful. The dress would have worked with a different all diamond tiara. The Oriental Circlet in its current shape is obviously not suited for her. We can all applaud the fact that she brought it out and I know Catherine has reached Saint like levels by now but be honest this was not her best night. She has had it altered over the years but somehow has never worn it in recent years opting either for loans from the royal collection or her aquamarine necklace/tiara. I do think that with some adjustments the wedding tiara could become quite a nice piece. If those alterations are allowed is another question as it is a loan and not a gift to the Duchess. It would be nice if she was given her own larger tiara. Preferably one that can be changed by swapping one or multiple stones from diamonds to sapphires, aquamarines and pearls. Yes it looks like the base of the circlet isn't a good fit for Catherine. That can easily be amended but that is only required if the piece is loaned more often to her and this was not a one off. A very stylish Princess Royal and i like her choice of jewels. This tiara is my favourite among her options. I'd love to see that double Greek Key tiara again but this was not the event for that. Maybe for an incoming State Visit of King Frederik X and Queen Mary?
