Does anyone else have doubts like I do about the story that the Spencer Tiara is a composite piece? To me, it looks impossible. It is a scrolled piece with connective loops. Nothing looks like a stand alone jewel. I've read the front section was a separate piece...piece of what? I just don't buy the story.

In the first photo - I think you can see the brooch needle on the backside of the middle motif?
And I think the original brooch are the 4 middle loops - to me you can see the bits who have been added here. From where you find the letters TCJ:
