Remaining Jewels of the House of Orleans
Posted by The Royal Watcher Thank You Maria Olivia! It appears the Mellerio Pearl Earrings were sold first to a private buyer and then acquired by the current owner, so I doubt the Prince got such a high amount. The price listed in the document is: The only heirloom jewel still in the family is the Princess of Joinville’s Diamond Brooch which belongs to Princess Chantal of Orléans, Baroness de Sambucy de Sorgue, who wore it with pieces of the disassembled Coty Emerald Tiara. The current Countess of Paris has the Mellerio Sapphire Necklace Tiara given as a wedding gift to her mother-in-law and also the French Crown Sapphire Earrings. The Action Française Tiara now belongs to Princess Isabelle, Countess of Schönborn-Buchheim. The Countess of Paris’ Diamond Bracelet Bandeau was divided up with the Bracelet being inherited by her son, Prince Michel of Orléans, Count of Évreux, while the Brooches were left to her daughter, Princess Diane, Duchess of Württemberg. Queen Marie-Amélie’s magnificent Sapphire Parure was sold to the Louvre in 1985, where the Tiara, Necklace and one of the Earrings were stolen last year. The Sapphire and Pearl Tiara was sold in 1997, while the Diamond Comb of the Princess of Joinville was sold off in 2023.
