Queen Alexandra famously wore a snake bracelet proudly. She’s said to have said “I shall wear whatever I like!”, not about the bracelet but in general. Previous Message I saw the opening of the Parliament yesterday in live. I admire the King wearing this heavy Crown. He looks tired. But He will never change the tradition. My respect ! As for Queen Camilla, I don't like her serpent necklace.Should her earrings be the Greville ones ?

New parliamentary robes for both

After the new parliamentary robe for Queen Camilla last year King Charles III has debuted his new robes as well. Unlike the old ones the inner lining is of white silk but not of ermine. The king has worn for his coronation and previous openings of parliament the robes of his grandfather. Camilla until last year wore those of her mother-in-law. In the photos from 2024 and 2026, you can see quite clearly that both gowns are now new. Queen Camilla’s train is now square at the end and no longer as long. King Charles III’s train now features large black ermine patches on the upper white section, rather than just dots as before, and both trains now have a fresh red colour, with the gold embroidery really shining. The Robe of Estate she wore during the second part of the ceremony and as she left the Abbey had a straight or square hem, but Queen Elizabeth II’s 1953 Robe of State, which she wore as she entered the Abbey and which required four pages to carry, had a rounded hem. The new train she has been wearing since the first State Opening of Parliament in 2023 is shorter; she now only needs two pages, and it is straight or square at the end. You can see this best when she is seated on the throne and the train lies on the carpet to her right. Previous Message I recall Camilla's train for the coronation was square at the end.
