For the State Visit of the German President Queen Maxima opted for the dress inspired by the Japanese hall in Huis ten Bosch and she combined it with the large sapphire tiara. Her daughter Amalia opted for her mother's wedding tiara. Also attending: Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands. Next week the Japanese Imperial couple will be visiting for that event more members of the Royal House will attend.
Re: Sapphires for Maxima and Star tiara for Amalia
Sad the base of the Sapphire tiara is not hidden. It looked better on Queen Beatrix

One Beatrix one could often not see that it is a sapphire tiara, as they were hidden mostly in her hair. Perefer it worn this way by Máxima.

The frame of the tiara was altered. When Beatrix wore it it did not have the elevated base it has today. If Maxima's hair is backcombed a bit more at the front it hides the frame. Yesterday evening it did not hide the frame entirely.

I also prefer it the new way, for several reasons. I like that it sits higher on the head, but also that it appears that at the time of the inauguration the tiara underwent a deep cleaning. The stones never look brighter as when Maxima took over.
