This Saturday, 13th June, the celebrations for the Golden Wedding anniversary of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia took place in Stockholm.
On this occasion, Queen Silvia wore (both on her red coat for the day celebrations and on her gala dress in the evening) a big diamond brooch made of a diamond knot topping a double portrait of herself and of her husband the King - obviously a very appropriate choice for such an occasion!
I have no information about this brooch, which looks stylistically antique (by "antique", I mean 19th/early 20th century), and which I do not remember to have seen earlier. Could it be an older brooch from another royal couple, whose portraits have been replaced by those of the current royal couple? Has anyone seen a similar-looking brooch on a previous Queen or Princess of Sweden?
I hope it is an older piece being modified. Old fashioned comes to mind. So, hopefully not a brooch that is made for the occation and hopefully not a design from Prince Carl Philip?
