I’ve just found that the Obama Library has a considerable amount of jewellery gifted to the Obamas including Morocco, Brunei and especially Saudi Arabia. It also includes some things gifted to their daughters. King Abdallah bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud gave the following

Ruby and Diamond Demi Parure Mouawad 2009
Pearl and and Diamond Demi Parure Mouawad
Emerald and Diamond Demi Parure Mouawad 2014

If they gave Michelle Obama these major jewels in an eight year period is it possible that they only gave Queen Elizabeth II so relatively little over many decades. I know about two demi parures and two necklaces over 70 years and two suites that have no known origin, whereas Camilla received three suites in three years. Now clearly those three years may be unusual but there has to be a lot of items that we have no clue about. They clearly gave non jewellery items but I can’t believe they were so relatively mean.

Can Mrs. Obama borrow jewellery?

Previous Message

Why not? Celebrities do it all the time for red carpet appearances. I wore borrowed jewelry (worth over $300,000) for a photo shoot for a fundraiser once.

Can Mrs. Obama borrow any if the jewellery she received as first lady?

Previous Message

I don't understand --do you mean *now* when she's not First Lady any more? I don't see why she wouldn't be able to. It's like any other borrowed jewel situation.

Yes, I should've been more clearer. Can Mrs. Obama, now a former first lady, borrow any of ghd jewels gifted to her when she was the first lady. Thank yoj.

That depends on who was gifted them. The first lady of the USA than she would not be able to wear them as they would now be at the disposal of the current first lady Melania Trump.
If the jewels were gifted to mrs Obama she still has them and can wear them.
To the best of my knowledge there are limits to the worth of what can be accepted when in office so i don't think any grand jewels were ever gifted.

I think i once read something about the idea of creating a fund or trust to have jewels for the FLOTUS. Somehow most First Ladies prefer to loan bigger jewels for some events and rarely wear big jewels.
