In almost, kinda, sorta Santana related news... This past weekend, I stumbled across a cd by the band Lettuce named Witches Stew that came out late last year. I have a number of Lettuce's cds and normally they're a straight up funk/jazz jam-type band. I was amazed that with this album, they paid tribute to early electric Miles Davis music, especially from my favorite electric Miles album In A Silent Way. Santana has covered that album's title tune a number of times. Apparently, these tunes were only performed once, before a live concert audience. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this unexpected gem of an album. This is "turn it up and turn out the lights" music. Anybody else who liked Miles' early electric period should check it out.
