Re: The Hired Hand (1971)
One word of warning. Don't "overexpect" as Andy would say. You have to go into it forgetting about the traditional western shoot'em ups and look for the tone that the film gives you. A man searching for stability and security in his life after years of drifting. The meaning of one's place in the world and the importance of the relationships he has. The deeper feeling really made me appreciate it more after watching Peter Fonda's featurette and commentary on his passion for restoring the film and exposing it to new audiences. The style, the music...I just really enjoy looking for these gems. After you watch it and ponder on it, let me know what you think about it.
