So sad to hear, I really liked him. I never caught the Rockford Files either. Al, you must see 'Murphy's Romance,' from 1985, with Sally Field. Set in small-town Texas where Garner is the common sensed, no nonsense druggist and Fields a struggling, confused single mother. Don't let the title scare you off; not a "kissy" movie. Earned Garner a Best Actor nomination. Has a great cameo by Charles Lane, the perennial character actor who played Mr. Frisbee on TAGS. Don't miss it!
