Was just reading some interesting things about the movie I never knew.
Buddy Ebson was cast as the first Tin man, but was allergic to the metal dust make up and had to forgo the role.

Shirley Temple was going to be Dorothy, but Judy Garland got the role somehow. To make her look younger she was ordered to lose 12 pounds and wore a corset.

In 1974, Garlands Daughter married the Tin Mans son. The marriage only lasted 5 years though.

The wicked witch of the west actress was seriously burned in one scene and it took 6 weeks before she could return to the set.

The ruby red shoes that Dorothy wore were originally silver. But the movie producers wanted to dazzle the world with their new found "Technicolor" technology, so they used red instead.

Toto (Dorothy's dog) earned more than the munchkins. $125.00 a week for Toto. $50.00 a week for the Munchkins.
