The Mayberry Grand: House Of Mystery (1934)

Still interested in these "old dark house" films. I recently tacked the "House Of Mystery".

Old dark house...check!
money to be gained by staying...a week...check!
Creepy characters...one or two...check!
Coppers on the case...check!
Gorilla/Ape on the prowl...check!

So was it any good????

It was "ok." Some things that bug be about a lot of these early films is that coming out of the silent era, it seems as though the actors seem to way over embellish and overact, which translates to ANNOYING! A lot of TALKING and the pacing seems to be rushed.

Yep, the characters were pretty annoying, even the main "hero" seemed to be trying too hard to be funny. All in all, this will not be one of my favorites but I have seen worse. The Alpha Video DVD was pretty poor also, so that does have an effect.
