The Gardiner recording is awful. I've always loved the Klemperer where the choir almost demands that God has mercy on us. Gardiner's choir sounds like bleating sheep.
I like Gardiner's Handel and he always reminds me of Sir Neville who was very good conducting Rossini String sonatas. Both of them should or should have stuck to what they're good at.
