We all have different perceptions of performances and what one person may view, perfectly reasonably, as micromanagement may come across to another listener as attention to detail.
I can only record my own experience of Simone Young, which extends not just to hearing all her Bruckner recordings but also to seeing her live on a couple of occasions. In 2012 she deputised at short notice for Andris Nelsons, conducting the Bruckner 8th in its original version. I reviewed the concert for Seen and Heard and was impressed https://seenandheard-international.com/2012/12/bruckners-first-thoughts-on-his-eighth-symphony-a-convincing-experience/
Not long afterwards I saw her conduct a mixed programme of mainly 20th century repertoire, again to impressive effect http://www.seenandheard-international.com/2013/02/18/simone-young-impresses-again-in-birmingham/
On both occasions I detected no micromanagement but others might have heard the same performances differently.
