Thank you for taking the trouble to post a message about my review of Hans Rosbaud's SWR Mahler symphony recordings, Ton.
I am sorry, but I thought I made it clear in the review that I was referring to live performances of Mahler's Seventh Symphony during the 1950's and early 1960's, hence the comparative recordings selected. I do not think it would have been appropriate to have compared a recording made at that time with one despatched by one of today's elite ensembles in state of the art SACD sound, for example. Of course, from the 1970's onwards, there are many live recordings of Mahler's Seventh Symphony now available, including the one you mention.
That said, you may be interested to know that a "sequel" to Tony Duggan's survey of Mahler's Seventh Symphony is due to be published on MWI later on this year and this will include all of Kondrashin's recordings of the Song of the Night, plus as many others that I can get my ears on ! I look forward to reading your thoughts thereon once it is published.
Best regards,
lee

In his review of the Mahler-Rosbaud edition, Lee Denham writes 'live recordings of Mahler’s elusive Seventh Symphony (...) are still very rare – live performances led by Barbirolli and van Beinum are joined by only two others, coincidentally also conducted by Scherchen and Rosbaud'.
Not mentioned here is another remarkable live recording: Kyrill Kondrashin with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, recorded at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on 29 November 1979.
