What if Jesse Alexander is really Garthan Saal?
At the end of Avengers #303 (the SuperNova Saga), Saal went into the timestream to find Nebula. What if he popped out of the stream about 20 - 25 years ago, formed the Black Novas using his Nova Force (but given he didn't trust anyone non-Xandarian, he only partitioned it into the helmets and not the hosts) and took the identity of Jesse since partitioning the power would have given him back his sanity?
Obviously, something in the future will cause him to become SuperNova again and go back into the timestream so he can pop out in the proper place for The Starlost Saga in New Warriors #40.
It might explain why (beyond a simple retcon) the Nova Corps never mentioned the Black Novas. The Black Novas were a black ops group working under Saal's directives of secretly protecting the Nova Corps and, having other aliens in the BNs, could police more worlds proactively and prevent someone like Nebula from attacking other worlds.
Plus with Saal's Nova Force powering them, the Black Novas wouldn't be detected by the WorldMind and it doesn't have any effect on Rich's continuity of being given all of the Nova Force.
Would also explain why the Black Novas' helmets resemble SuperNova's helmet.
