Still find it odd that Rich would so easily lose his arm like that by Revenger Cap. A "Human Rocket" with near invulnerability plus Above Class 100 strength and a seasoned combat veteran to boot. For me, it just didn't come off as the "shock value" it was intended to be and was more of a "cheap shot". Sorry Bendis fans, but its less about "you can't please everyone" and more about "plausibility" here. Rich is just not given enough credit. I am well aware that even for a season war veteran, Rich still occasionally makes the "rookie mistake". After all, even though he's been at this a very long time, he's still "just an average joe from Long Island". But it still came off as an "all too convenient" cheap shot.
Shame that Ko-Rel Worldmind is not there to help him out. Rich would have re-attached his arm and WM would have helped in the healing process. Yeah, no Kree Sick Bay around or Bacta tank to help out this time, I guess.
Lord Mar-Vell did not do much here but perhaps he does more next issue. The Revengers were pretty much Keystone Cop Avengers back in TTI, easily handled by Rich. Now they are a real threat? A whole bunch of things from TTI were discarded and forgotten here.
Garthan Saal still a no-show.
We still have no explanation why Quill de-aged so next issue may or may not cover that.
"Playing Cosmic Cube Keep Away", as TL would put it, pretty much sums this issue up.
Still MIA is Rich saying the words, "Blue Blazes!".

: Feel free to post from today your views on
: GOTG 19! Have yet to read the issue fully
: but have seen some scans at a few sites. So
: let me see - Bad Cap chops off Rich's left
: arm with a frisbie? Hmmm... Well he lost his
: right leg during Annihilation and handy
: dandy Kree science grew him a new one all
: The Lizard but here that's not a option. Can
: see him cauterizing the wound with the Nova
: Force; and his armor does have "no
: shock" facilities (as seen in Nova 5
: during Dna's run) but will Bendis choose to
: follow that up? Methinks things are still
: looking bad for our boy - next issue will be
: the decider. But what do you think?

: Read it. Pretty disappointed story-wise.
: Characterization still seems a bit off for
: most everyone. I felt Gamora was the only
: one that seemed like her old self.
: Yes, there is a controversial scene that is
: very questionable but will have to see how
: the whole Original Sin story wraps up. The
: fate of Rider, Worldmind, Nova Force, other
: Nova Corps members, Robert Rider, Rider
: parents, Namorita, Garthan Saal...there are
: still many questions that need answering.
: Art was a positive, as usual.
:
: Also, where in Blue Blazes is the famous
: words: "Blue Blazes!"?

: Me and Nova64 were discussing this on FB and
: yeah if you can hold off posting spoilers
: until Friday would be great NMB posters -
: then you can all post away with the latest
: ep in the fate of Rich Rider arc!

: I won't include any spoilers right now since
: not everyone's had a chance to read it, but
: here are my thoughts...
:
: Well written, funny, and heartbreaking at
: the end. Rich's personality didn't seem to
: be quite in line with things at the end of
: vol. 4's run, but he does get a lot more
: dialogue and is spotlighted more than issue
: 18.
:
: Got to wait until #20 to see how it all pans
: out, but I liked the story and I'm looking
: forward to next month to see what ultimately
: happens to Rich. All in all, this was a
: better story than 18 and Bendis, to his
: credit, is crafting a great story.
