I get the impression that they are at least going into this with a certain level of commitment and passion - maybe open to debate for some fans still in other quarters - and certinally not without outcries and downright dismissal from others who are even now not prepared to give them and the new series a shot.
With the Marvel interview - we get a clear indication that they want to do their best to bring Rich up to speed with the 5 year gap since his "Bendis Demise" which i think we all want to move away from at Rocket Speed. I am all for seeing new character aspects for Rich; as someone who does his own version of Rich for Nova619 no one can not agree that Rich is a true 3D hero, and like anyone who has gone through ups and downs its gives folks opportunity to see how a character can adjust and reintegrate in the period they have lost - so I will be very much looking forward to see how those who thought Rich had died for good react to his return, esp his brother, family and superhero associates - esp a certain Peter Quill.
Of course I do have reservations as to exactly how the title will share between him and Sam- and how they will interact. In a way though this was signposted for a long time. One thing Marvel will need to do and for Loveless and Ramon to build on is that Rich/Nova/Nova Prime will have to not be relegated to one title; he needs equal coverage now - not to become a ersatz Jessie Alexander!
Art wise - Ramon I'm fine with, I do like the style - it will be jarring to some, again controversial with others but it has a certain pop-art Steranko feel to it - esp if Ramon gets to do cosmic stories. I remember seeing his art in the Spiderman limited series with early Parker and Clash - there he had a very Ditko quality to it whereas his work on Farscape was more gritty so he can do styles.
Story wise, well if they are planning to use old Nova villians I'm for that - esp if they do Thanos (whom Rich has history with that needs resolution again from the Bendis debacle)and if they do use Doctor Sun, well he's a fave of mine as Sun Prime is for Nova619!
I will approach this with an open mind - in the end its just lovely to have him back, new revised duds and hoepfully in a series that can, if handled correctly - try and be better than the last few. Roll on December!

: The marvel one is even better.
:
: They mention Thanos and Doctor Sun (!).
:
: These guys have my support...seem like they
: have done way more research than any other
: writer art team we've seen.
:
: This isn't some vehicle to "push"
: Sam. This is a true blue well intentioned
: staff and I'm gonna buy the book without any
: reservations.

: This reads very promising. I do actually
: think the idea of a mentor/protege' thing
: has a lot of potential story value. And
: they are acknowledging Rich as a real power
: player.
:
: Sam has always needed someone to teach him
: how to be a hero. Rider's defining
: characteristic is unbending and absolutely
: focus on doing the right thing no matter
: what the personal cost is. Who better to
: teach Sam how to be a real hero?
:
: And Sam can maybe get Rich to loosen up here
: and there --I can see a lot of humor with
: Rich being gone and not knowing things Sam
: takes for granted.
