While I was losing weight, which is what I do now, I counted calories (1200). I ate anything I wanted as long as it fit in the calorie count, and I did that so it would become something I could continue for maintenance. The big difference now is the addition of a weekly treat day.
Second to counting calories, I exercised, just a little at first, but one hour daily now.
That's it... no specific diet... count calories... exercise.
